Champion A Child In Foster Care
CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children
How to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate
The first step to becoming a CASA volunteer is to attend a volunteer Information Session. During the Information Session, participants will learn about the CASA Volunteer Program, the foster care system, CASA training, and how CASA volunteers make a difference. This is a required first step.
Spring Training Starts Soon! Here’s what you need to know:
Each Training Class is ten sessions. You must attend all ten sessions to graduate. All classes are from 5:30-8:30pm.
Spring 1 starts April 13 in Linden.
Spring 2 starts May 12 in Wayne.
To be admitted into CASA Training you must first attend an Information Session, then submit your online application, then attend a prospective volunteer interview. These steps take time. We advise attending an Information Session by end of March to be eligible for Spring 1 training, and by end of April to be eligible for Spring 2 training.
Theodore’s Story
When Theodore was placed in foster care, he was assigned a Court Appointed Special Advocate, Karen, who helped him find a loving and permanent home. See the difference that a CASA volunteer can make.
