A CASA Volunteer helps abused or neglected children acquire the services they need and achieve permanency in a safe and nurturing home as quickly as possible.
Each training course consists of a 2-hour online pre-training class and eight in-person sessions.
The online pre-training class must be completed before the start of the first in-person session.
You must attend all eight in-person sessions in order to graduate as a CASA volunteer.
You can attend whichever course is more convenient for you regardless of which county you live in or wish to serve in.

CASA Volunteer Training
The location you train in does not determine the county you would serve in as a volunteer. You have the option to serve as a CASA volunteer in either Passaic County or Union County, regardless of where you train.
Volunteers must complete the entire training session. After the training is complete, volunteers are sworn in by a family court judge as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children.
The curriculum includes the following topics: the role of the volunteer, the child welfare system, needs and development of children, trauma, mental health, poverty, professional communication, cultural competence, educational needs, and permanency.
