DOJ Terminates Over 365 Federal Grants

By Erica Fischer-Kaslander, Executive Director

Dear Friends,

I would like to provide you with context for the recent headlines regarding the Department of Justice's termination of over 365 federal grants, including those to the National CASA/GAL Association.  You can find their press release details here.

While our local CASA programs in New Jersey are not directly affected operationally by this news and are not recipients of this funding, we have much empathy for the national-level CASA/GAL program and the important work required to uplift the needs of our children.

My focus is on ensuring that our best efforts are directed at continuously building a sustainable funding plan for our organization. Reliance on government funding sources that have supported our organization in the past is not a guarantee for the future. As the funding landscape grows increasingly unpredictable, the needs of the children served by Child Focus and the CASA program remain constant.

While this funding cut may not directly impact our local operations today, it sends a sobering message: support for vulnerable children is not guaranteed. Your support in the coming days and weeks will be needed more than ever.

While funding may fluctuate, our commitment to children never will. With your involvement, we can continue to be their constant in an uncertain world.

Thank you for your support.
